ACT Reads "Inherit the Wind" for Fundraiser
|
ATLANTA, GA (May 22, 2004) -
Saturday, May 22nd, was the final opportunity to join
Atlanta Classical Theatre
for their staged reading of the classic small town drama 'Inherit the Wind' at 14th Street
Playhouse, Stage 3, in midtown Atlanta.
There was no charge for admission to 'Inherit the Wind', but donations were collected
for the Stephen Petty Memorial Cash Fund. The fund is for all greater Atlantas
performing arts industry workers living with terminal, life-threatening or debilitating
illness or injury, and who are in need of supplemental financial assistance to improve
quality of life as they deal with medical conditions.>BR>
For more information about the fund, go to
www.atlantaperforms.com/join_us/pettyfund.asp.
The play is based on the Scopes Trial with two righteous attorneys battling for truth. But
as the playwrights reveal, it "does not pretend to be journalism. It is theatre. It is not
1925. The stage directions set the time as 'Not too long ago.' It might have been yesterday.
It could be tomorrow."
